The ‘Friday Night Lights’ movie is almost written

Coach Taylor : The key figure in the “Friday Night Lights” movie that still may or may not happen.

Six months after “Friday Night Lights” executive producer Peter Berg confirmed plans to make a film adaptation of the NBC series, a screenplay is almost complete.

Berg told MTV News at a recent Toy Fair preview for his action flick “Battleship” that Jason Katims showrunner for the Dillon, Tex., drama is “about done” with the script.

Opera diva Joyce DiDonato to spend New Year’s Eve working  magic  with Placido Domingo at the Met in ‘Enchanted Island’  

Joyce DiDonato will play Sycorax in “The Enchanted Island” at the Met.

Opera star Joyce DiDonato has big plans for New Year’s Eve.

“I am coming back from the dead,” says the mezzo-soprano, “and will end up glowing with resplendent youth.” That trumps watching the Yule Log flicker on TV.

Merle Haggard hospitalized with undisclosed illness

A concert promoter says country music legend Merle Haggard was hospitalized with an undisclosed illness this week in central Georgia.

Promoter Mike Blackwell tells The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that a Wednesday night concert in Columbus, Ga., has been canceled. He said the 74-year-old Haggard was hospitalized in Macon because of an illness.

Tour manager Frank Mull says that Tuesday night’s show at the Macon City Auditorium was abruptly canceled, seven minutes before it was to start.

Mull says Haggard has been sick since leaving his home in northern California last week.

It wasn’t known whether Haggard remained in the Macon hospital Wednesday.

Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor: Your thoughts?

Lindsay Lohan: from channeling Marilyn Monroe in Playboy to playing Liz Taylor on the small screen?

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Lohan is in talks to play the iconic star of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” and “Cleopatra” in the upcoming Lifetime original movie, “Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story,” a film focused on the tumultuous relationship between Taylor and two-time husband Richard Burton.

The project has been in development for nearly a year, so it’s unclear how quickly this could happen or whether Lohan, a.k.a. recent Playboy covergirl, is competing against some other strong candidates.
