Katie Holmes Receives Apology From Star Magazine
Katie Holmes has won a formal apology from editors at Star magazine after filing a $50 million defamation lawsuit against them over an article suggesting she was a drug addict.
A photo of Tom Cruise’s wife was printed on the cover of the magazine in late February under the headline, ‘Addiction nightmare – Katie drug shocker! – The real reason she can’t leave Tom’.
The story did not actually allege any drug use by the Batman Begins star, but she took issue over the suggestive article and launched legal action, with her representative blasting the publication for making “malicious claims” that are “untrue, unethical and unlawful.”
However, the two sides have now reached a settlement.

A spokesperson for Madonna has dismissed reports suggesting agents at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating her charity.
